What is a 'green job', what is a sustainable job?
At Greenjobs.nl we use the following guidelines about what constitutes a sustainable job:

  • All jobs of mission-driven organization. These are organizations with a very clear sustainable mission. Think of companies such as Plastic Free Amsterdam, Vandebron and many others.
  • All jobs of B Corps. Greenjobs.nl even has a separate search category for vacancies at B Corps!
  • Sustainable jobs at governments and in the public sector, such as municipalities, water boards, environmental services and provinces
  • Sustainable jobs at organizations that would like to become more sustainable and, for example, are looking for a Sustainability Advisor.

Gray area about whether a job is really sustainable will always exist and Greenjobs.nl does its best to prevent companies that are more concerned with greenwashing than sustainability from appearing on Greenjobs.nl. That is why every vacancy that appears on Greenjobs.nl is checked by the Account Management team. In case of doubt, we contact the organisation and ask how the job is sustainable. In case there is still doubt, the vacancy will be removed from the vacancy database.

If you want to read more about greenwashing and what exactly we do to combat it, read the blog: What is greenwashing.

What does it mean that Greenjobs.nl is a B Corp, is your business sustainable?
Yes Greenjobs.nl is a sustainable jobboard. Greenjobs.nl is a B Corporation which means that we meet the highest standards for sustainability, employees, customers, transparency and society. Many companies are already committed to a more sustainable planet and that is of course very good! Unfortunately, there are also parties who pretend to be more sustainable than they are through greenwashing. With a B Corp certification, this is hardly possible.

-Would you like to read more about what it means to be a B Corp, read our blog: Why Greenjobs.nl is a B Corp (and what a B Corp actually is)

-If you want to read more about why we are sustainable and what our goals are, read the blog: Greenjobs.nl, the goals and why we exist.

How does Greenjobs.nl attract (latent) jobseekers for the vacancies?
All those hundreds of sustainable vacancies are nice, but how do you find candidates and job seekers so that the vacancies are also viewed? A vacancy database without visitors is of no use to anyone. That is why we work hard with the Greenjobs.nl team to enthuse and engage more people training for a sustainable job! We address a very large target group via the 3 social media channels on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. We now have about +40.000 followers!

Furthermore, we have worked very hard in recent years to increase the brand awareness of Greenjobs.nl and fortunately more and more people are finding Greenjobs.nl for a new job. We are a member of many groups on LinkedIn and Facebook, in which we regularly share vacancies and sustainable tips. For sustainable vacancies in the Government and Public sector, we have created a handy LinkedIn group where you can find many sustainable vacancies in the government.

Will I find a candidate with certainty via Greenjobs.nl?
Greenjobs.nl is a jobboard, not a recruitment agency, so we cannot make any promises about whether your vacancy will be filled if you post it on Greenjobs.nl. Nor can we make any predictions about the number of views for a vacancy.

The success of a job advert depends on many factors, such as a good appealing job text, the technical requirements, or desired training, the working climate (currently overheated labor market), location, remuneration and other matters. If you boost the vacancy and make it Premium or Premium Social, your position will certainly get more views than with a Freemium, because your vacancy will be on the website longer, higher on the website and will be mentioned in the newsletter. With a Premium Social package, the vacancy also receives a Social Media campaign and the views are boosted enormously.

All the views your vacancy receives help build your employer brand. If your vacancy is posted on Greenjobs.nl, it strengthens your employer brand. See also the survey results among employers for more opinions.

Why is Greenjobs.nl free to use?

Why is Greenjobs.nl a free jobboard? A question that Greenjobs.nl gets very often is why are you free to use and why can you post a sustainable vacancy free of charge? The answer is very simple! Because Greenjobs.nl wants to help more people find a sustainable job, they keep the sustainable job bank accessible for all sustainable vacancies of organizations and governments. Exclusion criteria at Greenjobs.nl

At Greenjobs.nl we believe in organizations that aim to help people, do business consciously and have a positive impact on the climate and/or society. The points below that are known and documented about an organization lead to the exclusion of vacancies on the Greenjobs.nl platform.

It is the goal of Greenjobs.nl to encourage companies and governments to become more sustainable. That is why there will also be sustainable vacancies on the website of organizations that are still working on the sustainability process.

The Greenjobs.nl team does its utmost to check all organizations and vacancies posted on Greenjobs.nl whether they meet the criteria of a Greenjobs.nl.

Greenjobs.nl exclusion criteria – that is – vacancies from organizations that meet (one of) the following criteria will be removed from Greenjobs.nl.

1. Violation of ILO labor standards

Missing instructions for guaranteeing fundamental labor rights, the so-called international labor standards. These have been established by the International Labor Organization (ILO). This includes child labour, forced labour, health risks, prohibition of trade union activities or discrimination of any kind.

2. Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The company violates one or more articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Resolution 217 A (III) of December 10, 1948). Or stands for structures that contradict them.

3. Misleading advertisement

The content or product contains objectively incorrect and/or subjectively misinterpretable advertisements. In addition, the terms contradict our understanding of fairness.

4. Promoting animal suffering & animal testing

The physical and/or emotional pain inflicted on an animal is reinforced and structurally supported by the product or service or animal tests have been carried out on the product or service.

5. Overexploitation and displacement of indigenous peoples

The company itself extracts raw materials or operates infrastructure projects that have demonstrable negative consequences, such as the destruction of livelihoods (e.g. extinction of species, deforestation, drinking water running dry) or the displacement of population groups.

6. Negative environmental effects of the product or service

The product or service has a negative impact on the environment (high resource consumption, non-recyclable waste, greenhouse gases, etc.) and alternatives are not discussed in the product design or no compensation is made if there are no alternatives.

7. Factory farming

The company manufactures products of animal origin or processes them in the so-called bio-industry. By bio-industry we mean keeping animals without a range, without opportunities for movement or without daylight. In addition, farming makes species-specific behavior more difficult or painful manipulations are carried out. We recognize the EU organic label as a minimum standard.

8. Lobbying

The company or organization is spreading content, ideas or facts that are not in line with our sustainability goals or even fall under our exclusion criteria.

9. Weapons Production and Trade

The company itself or related companies (partners or large customers) is involved in the manufacture of or trade in weapons. This also includes the armaments and security and defense industries.
