Join The Great Bubble Barrier in the fight against plastic pollution by supporting our Business Development team in creating impactful strategies to protect our oceans and rivers. Are you a proactive problem-solver with a passion for sustainability and innovation? We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Intern to join our team. As a Business Development Intern, you will be part of a dynamic team and gain valuable experience in market research, and strategy development while contributing to a meaningful mission. The Great Bubble Barrier is a Dutch social enterprise, founded in 2017, which developed an effective technology to stop plastic pollution in rivers before it flows into our oceans, using bubbles. Our Bubble Barrier technology captures plastic across the entire width and depth of rivers, operates 24/7, and does not disrupt regular river activities.
You will be working on:
• Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities in focus regions
• Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to prepare proposals and presentations for potential clients.
• Track and report on emerging market opportunities and challenges.
• Analyse industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
• Investigate potential partnerships with local stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, or governmental entities.
You will gain valuable experience in:
• Conducting in-depth market research and analysis across diverse regions
• Developing actionable business strategies for market entry and growth
• Working on real-world business challenges in an international environment
• Strengthening your skills in data analysis, presentation creation, and strategic communication
• Understanding cross-cultural dynamics and the complexities of international business development
Skills & Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Industrial Design Engineering (Market Research direction) or a related field.
• Experience: Interest in international markets, cross-cultural strategies, and market research. Strong analytical skills to interpret data and trends. Familiarity with PESTEL analysis, market entry strategies, and product-market fit validation. Self-motivated and able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Language Proficiency: Working proficiency in English
• Mission Alignment: Genuine interest in ocean health, sustainability, and preventing plastic pollution
Work Requirements
• Working Hours: 32 – 36 working hours per week
• Location: Office-based with flexibility for remote work
• Permit: Based in the Netherlands with an EU working permit
• Duration: Available for a minimum of 12 weeks (3 months)
