Location: Remote/Hybrid (within +/- 1 hour CET; candidate must have an existing permit to live and work in the country they reside)


Contract: 1 year with the possibility for an extension by mutual consent


Salary: €48,000 – €55,000 gross per annum on a full-time basis




Position Summary


GRI is an independent NGO and standard-setter and over the last 26 years, our standards have created a global language used by organizations to provide transparency. At GRI we enable organizations to assess and report on the environmental, social and economic impacts of their activities. We also help build organizational capacity for sustainability reporting: from our Academy training courses to working with licensing partners to enable digital reporting with GRI’s standards. Together, the skills, capabilities, and data we create help build sustainable, long-term value. Working at GRI, you will be part of unlocking positive change in the world. 


We are seeking a Standards Manager on the sector team to manage multi-stakeholder processes to revise and develop GRI Sector Standards. The immediate need for this role is to support the development of the Sector Standards for financial services. Experience within or exposure to the financial services sectors, preferably capital markets, is necessary




Responsibilities


Delivery


  • Responsible for the overall planning and implementation of standards revisions/development project(s) / workstreams according to the GSSB Due Process Protocol and including for example: budgetary responsibilities, time management, stakeholder management, planning, risk management, logistics, project administration, and project communication.
  • Ensure high technical quality of the standards revised/developed and adherence to the GSSB Due Process Protocol of the projects/workstreams within responsibility.
  • Convene and manage Technical Committees or Working Groups to reach consensus on the technical proposals submitted to the GSSB.
  • Manage public consultations and other engagement processes to secure stakeholder input.
  • Provide input for the ongoing development of the GRI Standards and related documents and communications.
  • Draft technical content for the GRI Standards, in close collaboration with the writers/editors/technical managers and the relevant project teams, based on input from expert groups, public comments, and research.
  • Field and desk research (stakeholder engagement) relevant to the project/workstream.
  • Identify new possibilities to enhance the products and services of GRI within their area of responsibility to enhance the portfolio of products and services of the Standards Division and GRI.
  • Build and manage relationships concerning the project(s)/workstreams for which they are responsible.
  • Contribute to the activities of the Standards Division.
  • Contribute to GRI-wide projects (training development, network events, comms, and marketing).
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues in the team.

Engagement


  • Represent GRI at external and internal events related to the GRI Standards
  • Act as spokesperson for the Standards Division, when and where this responsibility has been delegated, including in the pursuit of alignment and collaboration with other standard setters.
  • Support the onboarding of new colleagues.


Work Experience


  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in managing extended projects – including planning, execution, and budget management.
  • Proven experience in managing and engaging with multi-stakeholder projects including facilitating working groups of technical experts.
  • Technical knowledge of reporting and standards processes, including experience with the design of performance indicators.
  • Experience in delegation of tasks to colleagues along with appropriate supervision.
  • Experience within or exposure to the financial services sectors (banking, capital markets or insurance), preferably capital markets.

Knowledge and abilities


  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and fluency in one other language is an advantage.
  • Results-focused with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work to precise deadlines.
  • Knowledge of sustainability issues and familiarity with the sustainable development agenda.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail, including experience delivering presentations and facilitating workshops or training sessions.
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural setting.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where change is ongoing.
  • Affinity with the mission of GRI.
  • In order to support your overall wellbeing have an existing ergonomic desk set-up when working remotely.
