studio Gear Up B.V. is looking for an experienced, conscientious and self-starting senior consultant with knowledge of green molecules / green carbon based sectors; fuels and chemistry and committed to the threefold transitions we are facing as society: the energy transition, the material transition and the transition to a sustainable land-use sector. We need your experience and thinking to advise our clients in their activities and positioning for the upcoming biobased and circular economy.

studio Gear Up is an independent strategic advisory company in the field of sustainable mobility, renewable energy, biobased and circular economy. We provide analyses, and market and policy development insights to our clients. The management of the Dutch Platform Renewable Fuels is part of studio Gear Up’s work. This is an independent innovation and knowledge centre taking a longer term perspective to accelerate the production and deployment of renewable fuels as part of the mix op options to reach the Paris Climate Agreement goals. The management of this centre will be part of the work of the senior consultant.

As a senior consultant at studio Gear Up, you’ll have the opportunity to generate impact and build an (inter)national network. If you are experienced in biobased energy, green chemistry and materials, driven by achieving a fossil free and climate neutral future and you are equipped with a creative and explorative mindset, strong analytical and communication skills and capabilities to build and maintain network relations: we are looking for you.

Job profile

As senior consultant you’ll be working on various advising projects for government organisations and businesses in a project-based setting. This will include the management of a team of analysts and external stakeholders. In the team, you’ll help with developing new project ideas, identifying new insights that help our clients and stakeholders, acquiring, shaping, managing, and executing projects, as well as interact with clients and the broader stakeholder network. You understand new market developments, identify key elements in the design for sustainable value chains, and understand market dynamics. You’ll advise clients on how market introductions can best take shape. For governments, you’ll assess and advice about policy instruments that can help accelerate the transition. In all project work, you’ll incorporate socio-economic and biodiversity considerations and investigate the necessary conditions for establishing long-lasting and sustainable solutions for our clients. The job involves intensive team collaboration, stakeholder interactions, as well as data analysis and assessment and project management.

In your work you will have frequent interaction with senior business leaders and policy makers, as well as representatives of non-governmental organisations. Specifically for the Platform Hernieuwbare Brandstoffen (Renewable Fuels), the senior consultant initiates, executes and reports long term analyses and insights with and to sector players and policy makers to contribute to better policy and investment decisions.

Key criteria

Our ideal candidate is somebody who:

  • Holds a master’s degree. Technical or business background is preferred but not essential,
  • Has a minimum of 7-10 years’ work experience, preferably in different work environments
  • Has a drive for accelerating the transition to a climate neutral economy by 2050
  • Has demonstrated to be self-starting and working independently,
  • Is able to move in political sensitive developments and develop communications in multi-stakeholder processes
  • Shows ownership and builds knowledge and expertise on relevant topics,
  • Shows capability to translate longer term vision into strategy
  • Has a proven record of project acquisition and execution
  • Can translate policy targets and scientific knowledge into relevant information for the market
  • Has a proven record in developing strong communication
  • Has developed a diverse network of external contacts
  • Is a strong communicator, and has good social skills,
  • Understands stakeholder positions and issues,
  • Is inquisitive and explorative in thinking,
  • Has a sense for accuracy in formulation and calculations,
  • Can independently digest and process information into insights,
  • Likes data visualisations,
  • For Dutch language: either mother tongue or near native level,
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal), other languages are welcomed,
  • Is familiar with and skilled in working with various computer tools and apps, like Excel and PowerPoint, or willing to become skilled,
  • Enjoys working in teams,
  • Has a valid working permit for the Netherlands.
