About Nature^Squared
At Nature^Squared, we aim to make a positive impact on biodiversity by delivering projects at the intersection of ecology and economics. Based in Amsterdam, our project office explores opportunities in biodiversity and natural capital across five main areas: urban regreening, regenerative agriculture, sustainable supply chains, green finance and nature-based business models, and biodiversity policy. We collaborate with governments, NGOs, and companies of all sizes—both in the Netherlands and internationally.
Role Description
The intern will help translate complex biodiversity research and scientific studies into practical insights for policy makers. You will support the development of the Netherlands’ National Biodiversity Finance Plan (NBFP), including collecting data on the costs of implementing the country’s biodiversity targets outlined in the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP). The position also involves assisting in the preliminary identification of finance solutions to promote biodiversity restoration and engaging with relevant policy processes such as the EU Nature Restoration Regulation in the Dutch context.
Who we are looking for
- You are a current master’s student or have recently completed your degree.
- You are studying sustainable finance, environmental economics, environmental or natural resource management, or related sustainability, biodiversity, or environmental fields.
- You are eager to learn how to turn scientific findings into practical consultancy recommendations.
- You have strong research and analytical abilities, are proactive, and pay attention to detail.
What you can expect
- Guidance and support from a diverse team through in-depth discussions and mentorship.
- A close-knit team passionate about advancing sustainability.
- An informal, open atmosphere where questions are always welcome.
- Daily vegetarian team lunch.
The internship can be 3–5 days per week, ideally starting in late February, with a duration of 3–5 months. The internship is unpaid if undertaken as part of or during a study program. You can apply via the button below.
