Creative Content Lead

(0,8-1,0 FTE)

Are you a passionate creative with experience overseeing digital content creation for impact-driven

organisations? Do you want to contribute to spreading a global movement regenerating nature and

communities? Then we invite you to apply for this position!

Your impact

In this role, you will lead the creation of content and design that brings human-centered, authentic stories to life while also ensuring that we effectively communicate our impact. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how we present our work, drive engagement, and contribute to the global movement for landscape restoration.

As leader of Commonland’s communications “production house”, you will manage a dynamic sub-team including an event manager, a digital communications officer/designer, and several freelancers. You will collaborate with the Strategic Communications Leads for Europe and Africa to shape and roll out Commonland’s global communications strategy, under the leadership of the Director of Development & Communications.

Your responsibilities

  • Art Direction and Creative Vision: Lead Commonland’s creative brand vision and oversee its execution via digital and print deliverables, working closely with the Strategic Communications Leads for Europe and Africa.

  • Digital Strategy & Production

  • Shape and execute our online content strategy, including social media strategy, and ongoing website maintenance and development, producing engaging campaigns and content that reflect our brand identity, resonate with our audience, and promote our initiatives across platforms.

  • With support from a growth marketing freelancer or agency, use data analytics to measure the success of communications strategies, refine approaches, and drive engagement across all digital communication channels.

  • Visual Storytelling: Oversee the creation of visual content that tells the story of our work, including infographics, videos, and photography, ensuring all visuals support our messaging and brand identity.

  • Brand Guardian of Commonland and 4 Returns: Ensure the consistent application of Commonland’s and the 4 Returns Framework’s brand identity and strategy. In collaboration with the Strategic Communications Leads for Europe and Africa, serve as the key brand guardian, working with internal teams and external partners to maintain a cohesive brand presence across all channels and ensure alignment with our narrative and messaging in partnerships.

In addition, you will work closely with the Strategic Communications Leads for Europe and Africa and the rest of the communications team to:

  • Create corporate communication materials: Create core corporate communications materials, such as the Annual Report, publications and presentations. Ensure that these materials accurately reflect the organization's goals, progress, and impact.

  • Manage creative and editorial projects: Review and approve the copy and design of core deliverables produced by other teams, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines. This includes overseeing both in-house and external designers, as well as templates.

  • Collectively concept and implement events: Help shape and contribute to executing the event strategy, overseen by the Events Manager, aligned with broader communications and advocacy goals.

We offer you

  • The salary range is between EUR 5000 - 6000 gross based on a full-time contract, depending on your level of work experience.

  • A dynamic, international environment with passionate colleagues.

  • Nice working environment, including fun and connecting activities to strengthen our culture.

  • Holiday allowance of 8%, an annual learning budget of EUR 2000 and a pension scheme.

  • We work in a hybrid way, that means 50% of your time you work at our Amsterdam office, and you could work the other days from home.

Commonland – what we do

Land degradation and climate change are increasingly recognized as key drivers of instability, impacting both ecosystems and communities worldwide. In this context, Commonland plays a crucial role in supporting local organisations to restore landscapes and shift society towards a regenerative future. Our approach:

  1. Strengthen capacity: We offer learning programmes and strategic guidance, equipping people and organisations with the tools, knowledge, and best practices needed for successful landscape restoration.

  2. Foster collaboration: We connect people and organisations working on holistic landscape restoration to cross-pollinate their learnings, scale their impact, and amplify their efforts.

  3. Unlock finance: We provide funding to local partners and help them develop sustainable financing models for restoration, connecting them to new funding opportunities.

  4. Advocate for change: We drive a global movement to embrace holistic landscape restoration as the new norm, shifting public policies and financial systems towards supporting regeneration.

Through these efforts, we aim to restore landscapes, improve ecosystems, and create lasting positive change for both people and the environment.

Our core values are: Empowering each otherputting words into action and being compassionate & honest. These guiding principles are our north star in the actions we take that strengthen our culture and determine if we are on the right path in fulfilling our ambitious goals.
