Your temporary role
Aligning policies across sectors and levels of government is crucial for effective landscape restoration. Without strong coordination and integration, efforts can become fragmented or even work against one another. Well-aligned policies help ensure that national programmesrespond to local needs and deliver greater impact.
In practice, however, achieving this alignment is challenging. Agencies often operate independently or pursue competing priorities. In this role, you will identify and develop case studies that highlight good practices at all levels of governance for promoting policy coherence in landscapes and seascapes, helping to build a global case study database. You will collaborate with the Policy & Impact team and report to the Head of Policy.
Your responsibilities
Identify and select relevant case studies on policy coherence good and promising practices in landscape and seascape restoration
Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to review evidence, extract key lessons and success factors
Contribute to the development and structuring of a case study database
Support the synthesis of findings into clear, accessible outputs
Collaborate with team members, research collaborators and contribute to ongoing policy research activities

Post‑graduate degree, preferably in environmental policy, ecology, sustainable development, or a related field, with at least 2–3 years’ experience in environmental policy
Strong analytical and research skills, including data analysis, case study research, and policy brief writing
Ability to synthesise complex information into clear, practical insights
Strong interest in landscape restoration, governance, and policy integration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; comfortable working with diverse international stakeholders
Available for six months (starting ASAP) and eligible to work in the Netherlands
