The best places to save meals with Too Good To Go

Ok, 100 meals saved with the Too Good To Go app, that's a lot! So many experiences gained in saving meals, we like to share the best tips with you so you too can help fight food waste. There are several locations where you can save delicious meals, but some places offer that little bit extra. Here are some tips for the best experiences from the Too Good To Go app:

- Patisseries and Pastry shops.
If you love sweets, patisseries and pastry shops are the perfect choice. Almost every time you pick up a Magic Box, you can count on a delicious selection of cakes, pastries and other treats. These treats are ideal for sharing or just to treat yourself. Favorites include the patisserie from the Bijenkorf.

- Bakeries
Bakeries are great for restocking the freezer with a supply of bread. From whole wheat bread to fancy buns, the selection is often varied, so quickly score your bread package from one of the affiliated bakeries. Most bread can be easily frozen, so you'll always have fresh bread on hand. Check the app for which bakeries are all participating and save them to your favorites list so you can easily check them out to know which bakeries you can get bread from.

- Supermarkets
Supermarkets often offer large quantities of food, so be sure to bring a big bag. Contents range from fruits and vegetables to dairy products and snacks. This does mean that sometimes you have to be creative in the kitchen, because you can get ingredients that you would not easily buy yourself or you can get a lot of 1 product. For example, one time we received 4 packs of lettuce. Well, that is a lot! So you might want to give what is really too much to your neighbors or friends. What you get is always a surprise, though, so this is a great opportunity to try out new recipes. The Too Good To Go app does allow you to select whether you want vegetarian or not, so that's handy if you don't want to eat meat.

Tip to keep an eye on the app and check it often. Do you have a favorite? Often they put food you can save in the app at the same times. So if your favorite restaurant, bakery, supermarket often offers a surprise package in the morning, chances are the same time is used on another day. Furthermore, you can create a list of favorites, then you can quickly and easily see which favorite places have food left over.

Savings and impact: What you can achieve with the Too Good To Go app

With the right approach, you can use Too Good To Go not only to reduce food waste, but also to make significant savings. Annemiek saved a whopping €1.012 euros with 100 meals saved. That's money you can spend on other things, while at the same time helping to reduce food waste.

In addition, your efforts also contribute to saving energy. Because of the CO2 emissions we avoided, we saved 951 kWh of energy. How much? This is enough to shower for 861 minutes or charge your phone 59,800 times! These impressive figures are directly reflected in the Too Good To Go app, which shows exactly how much you saved.

Creative cooking with unexpected ingredients

The great thing about Too Good To Go is that you never know exactly what you will get, which sometimes presents you with surprises in the kitchen. However, this provides an excellent opportunity to get more creative with cooking. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your Magic Box:

- Search Online Recipes: If you receive ingredients you don't use often, search online for new recipes. There are countless cooking blogs that can help you come up with something delicious.
- Mix & Match: Combine the ingredients from your Magic Box with what you already have on hand. Sometimes the best dishes are created by unexpected combinations.
- Be Flexible: Don't be discouraged by unfamiliar ingredients. See it as an opportunity to improve your cooking skills and discover new flavors.
