How B Corps Are Shaping the Future of Work and Impact
During B Corp Month, we celebrate companies that are doing business as a force for good. Greenjobs.nl spoke with six inspiring B Corps—Orbisk - Zero Food Waste, African Clean Energy, Le Nouveau Chef, MYPUP, Patagonia and Too Good To Go—about their experiences as a B Corp. How does it make a difference in their daily work, what does it bring to their teams, and how do they see the future of impactful entrepreneurship? Read their stories below, each in their own way, but connected by the same ambition: a more sustainable, fairer world.
Orbisk - zero food waste
At Orbisk, working at a B Corp mainly means being surrounded by people who really care about impact. “We all have the same drive to reduce food waste and leave the world a better place. The best thing about being a B Corp is the network of companies that really care about positive change.” Although they don’t see a direct impact on recruitment yet, they find the B Corp network and the shared values incredibly valuable. Orbisk looks up to Patagonia as a B Corp and calls them inspiring because of their consistent focus on impact.
African Clean Energy
For African Clean Energy, being a B Corp gives them extra assurance that their work really matters. “You are just a little bit more certain that what you do really makes an impact. That feeling is incredibly motivating.” The biggest change since their certification is that they now take more time and space to make conscious choices that fit their mission. Although it is still difficult to say whether it makes a difference in recruitment, they believe that it will in the long term. They are inspired by Patagonia because of their commitment to the environment, and hope that the B Corp movement will be embraced even more by larger companies worldwide.
Le Nouveau Chef
For Le Nouveau Chef, being a B Corp is all about working together on a more sustainable future: “As a team, we are building this together. That creates a sense of community.” Since their certification, they have become more aware of choices that have an impact on people and the environment. The label also helps them make better choices. They haven’t noticed any direct difference in the recruitment process yet, but they see the B Corp label as confirmation of their values. Le Nouveau Chef is inspired by other B Corps such as Yumeko, which they came into contact with during an event. Their wish for the future? To create even more awareness among consumers about the value of B Corp.
MYPUP
MYPUP sees the B Corp label as an incentive to continue making conscious choices. “It means more attention for social impact.” Since the certification, they have been structurally looking at their decisions with a broader perspective. Even though they haven’t noticed the effect on recruitment yet, they believe that in the long term it will definitely make a difference in attracting like-minded professionals. They mention Tony’s Chocolonely and Greenjobs.nl as inspiring B Corps—companies that know how to combine impact and business success. MYPUP hopes that the movement will grow and that sustainability will become the new standard in business.
Patagonia
Patagonia emphasizes that being a B Corp goes beyond certification: “It’s a way to show that you’re committed to a better world. We feel connected to companies that share our values.” They notice that the B Corp label helps attract people who want more than just a job, but also a purpose. So it certainly helps in terms of recruitment. Other B Corps inspire them too, but above all the bigger picture of the community gives them the feeling that they are part of an important change. Their wish? That the B Corp movement continues to grow, so that more and more companies take responsibility.
Too Good To Go
At Too Good To Go, being a B Corp plays an important role in their corporate culture. “Our shared mission and impact are often emphasized and used as a means to hold ourselves accountable. We don’t just think about what we do, but also about how it fits into the bigger picture: a planet without food waste.” They find it powerful that B Corp challenges them to continuously do better. The label also has a positive effect on their employer branding: “The B Corp certification certainly helps to get in touch with candidates who want to make an impact.” They call Dopper an inspiring B Corp, because of their mission against single-use plastic and commitment to clean drinking water. Their message for the future: “Don’t let sustainability be something you do ‘on the side’, but something that is central to everything you do.”
Together we can make a difference
These six companies show how the B Corp label goes beyond a quality mark. It is a mindset, a community and a shared commitment to positive change. At Greenjobs.nl we are proud to help B Corps find talent that shares this mission. Because together we go further – towards fairer, more sustainable and more meaningful work.
